Position Overview
Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences seeks a dynamic faculty member to provide innovative teaching and engage in scholarly activity The position is for a 10-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Responsibilities
The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to provide didactic teaching and laboratory experiences in the pharmaceutics course series within the PharmD Program for both the campus-based and online pathways. This includes but is not limited to the following:
- Developing and facilitating educational experiences in a laboratory setting to develop the knowledge and skills of a pharmacist related to sterile and nonsterile compounding, communication with patients and HCPs, prescription and medication order processing, and pharmacy calculations.
- Providing lectures in team-taught courses over material related to sterile compounding
- Coordinating and delivering an introduction to pharmacy course for the online pathway.
- Developing student assessments in all of the above teaching responsibilities
- Other teaching responsibilities may be assigned based on departmental needs and instructor interest and/or expertise.
- Engaging in the discovery, integration, and application of knowledge as expected of a non-tenured track faculty member.
- Pursuit of grant funding or other scholarly activities are encouraged based on the interest and/or expertise of the faculty member.
- Service to the college and the university as expected of a non-tenured track faculty member.
- Candidates must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and at least 3 years of post-graduate experience in sterile products compounding. Varied pharmacy practice backgrounds (inpatient and outpatient care) and/or prior teaching experience are preferred. Qualified candidates should possess excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in sterile compounding areas such as:
- Pharmaceutical Compounding – Sterile Products (USP 797)
- Hazardous Compounding (USP 800)
- Specialized infusion devices
- Parenteral nutrition compounding
- Experience in mentoring and fostering collaborative learning environment
