Description:

Provides individual counseling to current and prospective students and parents regarding financial aid eligibility and the various programs available. Identifies and resolves problems related to the effective delivery of financial aid funds to students.
1. Counsels and advises students about financial aid eligibility, programs, application procedures, costs, and financial planning; may include debt management counseling and exit interviews.,
2. Conducts financial need analyses and determines eligibility for federal, state, university, and other aid programs in accordance with all applicable rules, regulations, and laws.
3. Uses complex computer programs to retrieve, verify, process, and analyze various financial aid documents according to federal, state, and university guidelines; may assist with or create financial aid reports.
4. Ensures that awarded financial aid is appropriately disbursed and credited to the students' account; identifies and resolves award delivery problems and serves as a liaison between students and lenders, donors, and guarantee agencies.
5. Reviews financial aid recipient's academic performance for satisfactory academic progress; takes necessary action if progress is not being met and reviews appeals.
6. Assists students in developing and implementing realistic financial budgets; intervenes in emergency financial situations and determines available options.
7. May evaluate unusual circumstance documentation and makes adjustments or revisions to costs, contribution, need, or dependency status.
8. May develop, organize, and present financial aid outreach programs and workshops for students, parents, faculty, and staff.
9. Coordinates with Admissions counselors to provide an effective and seamless student recruitment and enrollment process.
10. Maintains current knowledge of financial aid programs and eligibility requirements by attending training, workshops, and conferences; participates in and assists with Financial Aid cross-functional training.
11. May serve as team leader by coordinating schedules, managing special requests, and resolving difficult customer service situations.
12. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly related job experience.

Department is willing to accept Education in lieu of experience and Experience in lieu of education.
