Job Description
Provide advice, direction, and support for the University's 200+ Recognized Student Organizations on campus, their executive members, and advisors. This will include managing the fall and spring rerecognition processes and addressing inquiries as they are received. Direct and advise Leadership U Board and Graduate Advisor for Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) & Leadership in the planning and implementation of well-rounded schedule of leadership events open to all Minnesota State students. Direct and support comprehensive marketing campaigns for programming within the areas of Recognized Student Organizations, Leadership U, and the Nontraditional Student Center. Direct and advise undergraduate student for Nontraditional Students on planning and implementation of programs hosted by the Nontraditional Student Center. Serve as a resource for campus in the areas of Recognized Student Organizations, Leadership programming, nontraditional students, and Presence (an on-line software tool). Work as part of the Centennial Student Union and Student Activities team to provide an environment rich with student spirit, life, energy, and enthusiasm.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of student development
theory
- Understanding and ability to apply student and learning outcome
theories
- Knowledge of comprehensive student activities program including
programming, student organization, and leadership
development
- Understanding of nontraditional students and how best to serve
their needs within the University environment
- Knowledge of comprehensive marketing campaigns including social
media marketing and website management
- Supervisory/advisory experience
- Budgetary experience
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse population of
students, faculty, and staff
- Commitment to the educational goals of Student Activities and
knowledge of college union philosophy
- Awareness of and the commitment to the educational and cultural
benefits of multiculturalism
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as job may
require
- Ability to serve as a team member developing a comprehensive
student involvement program
- Masters degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education,
Educational Leadership or related field of study
Preferred Qualification
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and
learning environment.
- Use of and understanding of social media platforms -Facebook,
lnstagram, Tik Tok, et. al - as a platform for marketing and
publicity.
Other Requirements
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., with a flex schedule pending evening/weekend programming.
Telework
Yes - Up to 10% of the time. Based on the essential functions of this positions, MMB Policy #1422, and University policies relating to flexible work, this position is eligible for the following work modes: Case by Case/Situational Telework: A position that may include a temporary reassignment or work outside the permanent/principal work location to meet short-term needs.
