General Summary
The GameAbove College of Technology, School of Technology and
Professional Services Management (STPSM) invites applications for a
part-time lecturer position in the Hotel Restaurant Management
Program. The appointment will start in the Winter 2025
semester.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach courses in the
areas of:
1) Food and beverage cost controls (HRM 240)
2) Meetings and events planning (HRM 450)
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which
employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to:
meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes,
assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and
course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials
to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades
in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University
schedules.
Perform related departmental duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum required qualifications include Bachelor of Science in Hotel Restaurant Management or related area. In addition, the applicant should have current professional experience (2 years) of relevant hospitality industry experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in HRM or related area.
Knowledge in other areas of Hotel and Restaurant/Hospitality
Management.
The ability to design a supportive and interactive learning
environment, encouraging student participation, critical thinking,
and creative problem-solving. Provide constructive feedback on
student work to enhance understanding and application of
concepts.
The concept of bringing real-world experience and industry insights
into the classroom, sharing case studies, and examples.
The department/school may approve exceptions or equivalencies that
demonstrate relative background in academic research and/or
professional accomplishments on a case-by-case basis.
