The Coastal Carolina University Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program in the Teacher Education Department, beginning August 2025.
This faculty position requires teaching courses in the PETE program to pre-service teachers, advising students, providing professional, community, and university service, and mentoring and supervising students in field placements. Scholarship that advances the field, including research and publication, is required. The Teacher Education Department supports and values diversity in its faculty, staff, and students. Required qualifications are a doctorate degree in Physical Education or closely related field completed no later than the end of the first academic year, knowledge of and experience planning, teaching, and assessing standards-based physical education, and show evidence of an emerging research agenda related to physical education.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Currently holds or previously held a license in physical education.
-University level teaching experience, Knowledge of adapted physical education pedagogy
- 3 years physical education teaching experience in U.S. PK-12 schools or the equivalent, Understanding and experience with SHAPE America Standards and the specialized activity categories in PE, such as lifetime outdoor pursuits, adventure education, inclusive school PE practices, team sports, fitness activities, dance, and aquatics.
-Demonstrated teaching success in higher education and mentoring of undergraduate students.

The Bachelor of Science in Physical Education Teacher Education Program at CCU is a nationally-recognized program designed to provide South Carolina initial licensure for candidates who are interested in becoming PreK-12 physical education teachers.
