Description
The Department of Visual Arts at Flagler College invites applications for a faculty member in Studio Art at the rank of Assistant Professor to start fall 2025. The Department of Visual Arts offers majors in Art History, Fine Arts, and Graphic Design, and prides itself in a collaborative, student-centered, and experiential curriculum taught by expert faculty.
Prospective candidates must be capable of teaching 2D Foundations and develop and teach courses in Illustration and Digital Illustration. Secondary areas of specialization are welcome, and knowledge of Animation and Motion Graphics would be desirable but not required. We welcome applications from educators with a variety of backgrounds and our ideal candidate will be an interdisciplinary artist with a demonstrated promise of growth as an educator and professional artist. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to all levels of undergraduate instruction in Visual Arts, as well as Flagler College’s Core Curriculum. Candidates should show evidence of strong teaching, an exemplary professional portfolio, and preparation to engage in mentorship, scholarship, and service to the college.

The teaching load is 4/4 and involvement in departmental and college service, curriculum development and assessment, and ongoing professional development is expected. - Terminal degree in Studio Art (MFA, or Ph.D.) or a closely related field.
- College-level teaching or other related instructional or educational presentation experience
- Strong drawing background and ability, including observational drawing knowledge.
- Ability to effectively teach foundtional and advanced courses in Illustration and Digital Illustration.
- Strong understanding of Adobe CC software.
- Ability to teach 2D Foundations and introductory Digital Art.
