Position Description Summary/Purpose :

The School of Education (SOE) Data Analytics, Assessment, & Communication Manager will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of data systems to support data-driven continuous improvement cycles, design and maintenance of the SOE database, data-driven reporting and compliance with state and federal requirements, and coordinate SOE print and web-based communications.

The manager will develop and maintain the SOE database and work with large datasets, including integration of University of Bridgeport databases, internal SOE data systems (e.g., Watermark/SL&L), and external dashboards and data systems (e.g., Title II, edReports, edTPA, and state and federal systems). Effective knowledge and use of SQL, Power BI, SaaS, Python, and Excel to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting is required.

In collaboration with SOE faculty, the Data Analytics, Assessment, & Communication Manager will play a key role in preparing surveys, data collection, ensuring data accuracy, supporting institutional research efforts within the SOE, and building a comprehensive database to support SOE operations. The Manager will work with the University IT and marketing departments to maintain SOE technical and social media platforms. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (e.g., Teams, Outlook, Office) and social media platforms (e.g., Instagram and Linked-In) are required to maintain the SOE media presence.

Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities :
  • Database Management & Analysis:
    • Design and maintain databases using SQL for education-related data, including student outcomes, state and federal reports, and compliance data (e.g., Title II, edTPA, Praxis).
    • Collect, manage, and analyze large datasets using advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros) to improve data reporting efficiency.
    • Develop data visualizations and dashboards using Power BI to provide actionable insights to leadership and faculty within the School of Education.
    • Utilize SaaS tools to automate data collection, reporting, and analysis processes, reducing manual data entry and improving efficiency.
    • Develop Python scripts to automate data processing, generate reports, and integrate data from multiple sources.
    • Prepare reports to support analysis and curricular decision making across the School of Education.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Collaborate with state and federal agencies to ensure accurate and timely submission of required data, ensuring compliance with reporting standards.
    • Support the School of Education in the preparation of accreditation reports by providing data insights and analytics.
    • Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems using Excel for cross-checking and validating datasets.
    • Work collaboratively with IT and University departments (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, OIE and Marketing) to enhance data infrastructure, improve data security, and develop data storage solutions, and communication that meet School of Education needs.
  • Microsoft 365, Collaboration, and Communication:
    • Leverage Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, Office) to collaborate efficiently with stakeholders across departments.
    • Use Teams and Outlook for scheduling meetings, sharing data reports, and conducting virtual data reviews.
    • Utilize Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to prepare detailed reports, presentations, and visualizations for both internal and external stakeholders.
    • Organize and manage shared documents and data-related files using OneDrive and SharePoint, ensuring easy access and version control for all team members.
    • Provide technical support to maintain SOE communication and social media presence to support recruitment efforts and maintain connections with alumni.
  • Training & Support:
    • Provide training and support to faculty and staff, utilization of data tools (Excel, Power BI, and interface with LMS) and reports to improve program outcomes.
    • Lead data review sessions and facilitate workshops on using Excel and Power BI for data analysis and visualization.
    • Create user guides and training materials for faculty/staff members to increase proficiency in data management and reporting tools.
  • Continuous Improvement & Development:
    • Stay up to date with industry trends and technologies in data analysis, including new features in Excel, Power BI, and Microsoft 365, to continuously improve processes.
    • Assist with implementation of data governance and data quality standards to ensure consistency and accuracy in all data systems.

  • Assist other department faculty/staff as needed to promote a team effort.
Knowledge, Ability and Skill :
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including database creation, querying, and optimization.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel for data analysis, including advanced functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and data visualization.
  • Proficient in Power BI for developing reports and dashboards.
  • Experience with Python for data processing and automation tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, Office) for collaboration, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Experience working with state and federal data reporting systems related to education (e.g., Title II, edSight, edTPA, Praxis).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms for data management and automation.
  • Expertise in use of Social Media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn and Instagram)
  • Knowledge of educational assessment data and reporting standards is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate complex data findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with a focus on meeting deadlines and maintaining data accuracy.

Qualifications

Minimum Required Qualifications :

Education, Training and Experience :
  • Master’s degree in Data Analytics and systems, Information Technology, Educational Research, or a related field.
  • Two years of experience in data analysis, database management, or related fields, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Excel, Power BI, SaaS platforms, Python, and Microsoft 365.
  • Familiarity with state and federal education data requirements, accreditation processes, and compliance reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
