Johns Hopkins, founded in 1876, is America's first research university and home to nine world-class academic divisions working together as one university.
We are seeking a Human Resources Services Manager
- Reporting who will be responsible for the continuous management
of and day to day operations for the Reporting HRSS. This position
also supports customers outside of HRSS with complex reporting
needs. Examples of the units include Benefits Operation Center,
Benefits Service Center, Johns Hopkins University (JHU) tax office,
Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) HR offices, Health System
benefit office and international office etc. This position
demonstrates mastery in leading daily operations and projects
related to data integrity, system enhancement, testing upgrades,
troubleshooting, reporting and analytics.
This position also leads the effort to provide support for Business Warehouse (BW) Analysis and serves as liaison between HRSS, customers and Enterprise Business Solutions (EBS).
The individual in this position will work closely with other Managers in HRSS and Payroll Shared Services (PYSS) to develop and maintain accurate reporting and auditing to support data integrity within the ERP (SAP On Prem) as well as HR Transformation Implantation of new ERP (Workday). This position is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining business partnerships with clients enterprise wide.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee as assist with timely and accurate ongoing and ad-hoc reporting for HRSS supporting data integrity in our ERP.
- Provide direct supervision to HRSS Reporting Specialists and HRSS Reporting Analysts. This includes the ability to hire, terminate, conduct evaluations and monitor performance.
- Mentors staff so they attain the technical and customer service skills along with the experience necessary to perform independently and attain further career progression goals.
- Recommend initiatives to improve quality and productivity of HRSS Reporting functions.
- Writes, maintains and supports a variety of reports & queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools (Query Manager, BW Analysis and Infoset Query) and SAP ABAP programming.
- Functions as project leader in overseeing the testing for system updates, changes, and modifications.
- Understand and interprets JHU and JHHS policies and procedures in order to affectively establish and improve upon current departments procedures as related to reporting and audit.
- Focused on improving defined HRSS procedures and processing methods to effectively and accurately meet production and performance goals.
- Provide and implement workable solutions to business needs.
- Manage effective relationships within the unit and build solid client relationships enterprise wide.
- Collaborate with SAP support, Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition and Compensation to implement and revise reports and audits.
- Work closely with HRSS and PYSS Managers to facilitate HR and Payroll updates as required.
- Work closely with internal and external auditors to provide documentation and explanation of HR/PYSS processing and business practices as well as validate the integrity of master data.
- Support HRSS training initiative which involves establishing and maintaining an internal training document as well as provide individualized and group training for users of reporting functions within SAP.
- Coordinate the requisition process, interview viable candidates and authorize hiring decisions for HRSS.
- Represent HRSS in committees and work groups designed to establish and revise business practices enterprise wide.
- Oversee and coordinate special ad hoc projects that support enterprise initiatives.
- Responsible for overseeing an environment that maintains confidentiality.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in HR or business and 5 years of experience working in Human
Resources, Human Resources Shared Service or Human Resources
Information Systems. They must have at least 2 years of supervisory
experience.
- Strong technical competencies.
- Working knowledge of programming languages ABAP or other equivalent programming languages (Java, JavaScript)
- 2+ years of experience with databases including SQL.
- Two plus years of experience in reporting function role supporting HR, payroll and benefit units working in an enterprise resource planning environment or other HRIS/HRMS position.
- Strong understanding of database design, structure, functions and processes.
- Have demonstrated ability in the use of information system technology to improve operational processes
- Strong understanding of human resources, payroll and benefit data.
- Experience with executing and delivering State and Federal compliance reporting (AAP, OFCCP)
- Have demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work with confidential materials and employee information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Experience with leading efforts in system updates, changes, modifications and testing,
- Strong analytical skills applied to understanding business functionality and translating them into reporting requirements.
- Excellent understanding of business complexity and project interdependencies.
- Be detailed oriented.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Have demonstrated leadership in developing a growing staff with ‘team’ orientation.
- Have strong customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Reporting experience with SAP or other ERP (Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft, etc.)
- Business Intelligence reporting.

Starting Salary Range: $73,300 - $128,300 Annually (Commensurate
with experience)
Employee group: Full Time

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
