Job Description:
Summary:
This position is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance work on a variety of vehicles including one with diesel engines and air brake systems, various types of ground equipment, and golf carts. The incumbent must be able to work independently and cooperatively on team-based assignments to support the mission of Vehicle Maintenance and that of the university, providing leadership to effectively operate and maintain safe, functional, clean, fuel-efficient vehicles and equipment.
Essential Functions:

1. ( 80% of Time).
Performs preventive maintenance, safety inspections, daily bus inspections, conducts emergency and routine repairs on university fleet/equipment. Responsible for verbally communicating any major vehicle maintenance supervisor and shop foreman suggesting corrective repairs. Responsible for assuring that all vehicles and equipment are available when needed to meet departmental and university missions.
2. (5% of Time)
- Completes a documentation process of all work performed in the
Computer Maintenance
- Management System (CMMS) AIM.
- Supports ground maintenance in response to emergency snow
removal missions by repairing, installing, and adjusting snowplows,
salt spreaders, and snow sweepers. Assures that all equipment is
ready for emergency snow removal mission. Works as snowplow
operators as needed to assure that university campuses are safe and
accessible during snow and ice conditions.
- Attends approved Facilities Management training sessions to
ensure that incumbents abilities and knowledge are current. Keeps
abreast of automotive technology and safety compliance.

- This position is designated as essential staff and is required
to be available to work outside of normal business hours, including
nights and weekends and during university closures and designated
weather emergencies.
- $29.00 - $32.00/hour
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3-5 years of relevant experience
- Proven track record in the repair and maintenance of diesel
engines,diesel emission technology and air brake system..
- Must be able to work independently and collaboratively on
team-based assignments to support a safe, functional, and efficient
operation.
- Valid License and ability to become a certified AU driver
- CDL or ability to obtain CDL within 1year of hire date
