The Office of Financial Aid is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Financial Aid Counselor with a focus on Student Employment to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in supporting students through their academic journey by managing student employment opportunities and assisting with financial aid processes. Excellent communication and organizational skills, outstanding student service, attention to detail, and a commitment to all federal, state, and institutional regulations are required.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
  • Provides quality service to all students, parents, and members of the DePauw University community. This includes, but is not limited to, phone calls, emails and in-person visits.

  • Counsels and advises students and parents about student employment, financial aid eligibility, application procedures, aid programs, aid eligibility, packaging policies, costs and the billing process.

  • Coordinate and oversee student employment programs, including work-study and on-campus job opportunities.

  • Maintain accurate records of student employment and financial aid information.

  • Collaborate with various departments to create and manage student job postings.

  • Track and report key metrics on student employment and financial aid.

  • Develop informational materials and conduct sessions or workshops on financial aid and student employment opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations regarding student employment and financial aid.

  • Process and verify employment and financial aid materials and related documents.

  • Assists the Office of Admission in recruiting new students and meeting enrollment goals through relationship building and timely notification of financial aid eligibility.

REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience: A Bachelor’s degree. Four or more years of experience in higher education, financial aid, human resources, or a related area can be substituted.

Communication/Language: Ability to read and interpret documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with students and peers.

Quantitative Ability: Strong quantitative and data analysis skills.

Computer Skills: Technical facility and use of database proficiency. Google Applications and Microsoft Office; experience with Workday or PowerFAIDS is desirable.
