Columbia Basin College ('CBC' or the 'College') seeks a Program Assistant to perform a variety of clerical tasks that support the Assessment Center by ensuring the smooth administration of assessments, maintaining the integrity of testing processes, and providing exceptional support to students. This position reports to the Director for the Assessment Center.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary contact with program participants for a variety of assessments; manage check-in process, including editing records, printing test scores and reports, lab set-up, proctoring for in-person, online and off-site sessions; prepare daily testing rosters; verify all supporting documentation; troubleshoot and resolve discrepancies;
  • Establish and maintain records and files; record statistical information; prepare narrative and/or statistical reports regarding program operations;
  • Report and resolve technical issues involving exam delivery during test sessions for all exam sponsors with help from technical support teams; produce and submit reports detailing technical and/or operational issues as well as potential candidate misconduct;
  • Ensure and maintain security of test materials and confidentiality of test results and other sensitive information; adhere to the standards and guidelines of the National College Testing Association;
  • Attain and remain up to date with training, certifications and in-service for all test publisher testing and authorized GED examiner requirements;
  • Perform a variety of public relations functions staying up to date with the College’s brand coordinate arrangements for program activities such as large testing sessions, meetings, conferences, and off-site events; coordinate accommodated test administration for students with a documented disability;
  • May direct the work of student workers; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent; and
  • Two (2) years of full-time clerical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from an institutionally accredited college or university; and
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Terms of Employment

This position is a full-time classified staff position. The position is overtime eligible and the typical work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College. This position is available immediately.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

Working Conditions

Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
