The Business Data Analyst will work as part of the Analytics and
Decision Support department. The primary purpose of this position
will be to enable the University through data and information for
improved decision making. This position will work closely with
other business data analysts to develop technical requirements and
comprehensive solutions to extract and transform data from multiple
source systems for business use. The ideal candidate will
understand the importance of balancing customer
requirements/feedback while also performing data analysis using
various tools and techniques.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
ADS Enrollment is seeking a level-III analyst for the ADS Enrollment Reporting team. Duties of this role include:
1. Fulfilling reporting/analysis requests for customers that require moderate-to-high levels of skill in the reporting software used by ADS.
2. Collaborating with customers enough to fully understand their daily business needs and make recommendations for enhancements to their process, data architecture, forms solutions, etc.
3. Driving customer adoption to IS-led improvements to forms, processes, data, etc., even if met with resistance.
4. Developing constructive, trusting relationships with customers.
5. Communicating with customers about work they have requested.
6. Participating in the active, regular maintenance of Tableau sites and data sources, including periodic audits of permissions and/or related Configuration Items.
7. Supporting the development of teammates on ADS Enrollment Reporting as they grow in their skills with SQL and/or the reporting software.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position may directly supervise other employees.
Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies
A qualified candidate for this role will possess or demonstrate the following:
1. 2+ years of experience in ADS or a comparable position elsewhere.
2. Ability to work on campus and in person with University Development and Flames Club full-time. (Office space will be provided in Green Hall, and potential for remote work will be reevaluated after the first six months.)
3. Extensive experience building reports in Tableau, SSRS and Argos, including all the standard features and functions (e.g., subscriptions/scheduled distribution, Tableau extracts).
4. Proficiency in SQL (intermediate skill at least); preferably DDL and DML.
· Consistent track record of good personal task management (e.g., time tracking, informative comments).
5. Effective communicator within the ADS team and externally with customers.
6. Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and urgent ad hoc needs without degradation in communication quality or professionalism.
7. Energetic, enthusiastic personality capable of motivating customers to strive for optimal efficiency and productivity.
8. Champion of the University’s mission and strategic goals.
