As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish Department of Languages and Cultures to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by teaching heritage learners and Spanish for the professions. The Department of Languages and Cultures at Marian University-Indianapolis seeks qualified applicants who employ innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to teaching for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish.
The Department of Languages and Cultures at Marian University-Indianapolis seeks qualified applicants for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish. This full-time, 18-month position teaching Spanish will begin in January 2025 and continue through the 2025-26 academic year. ABD required; PhD preferred. Teaching load is 12 credit hours for the semester.

Required Qualifications:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
- Teaching load: 12 credits each semester.
- Contribute to a wide array of teaching capacities, including
the general education curriculum, undergraduate major curriculum,
and other programs.
- Share in the ongoing development and implementation of
department and college activities and projects.
- Mentor students through advising, research, and internship
opportunities.
- Participate in the life of the campus and university
service.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
- Ph.D. in Spanish, however ABD candidates will receive full consideration
- Advanced-level proficiency in Spanish and English
- Evidence of capacity for effective teaching in higher education.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work independently with colleagues throughout the university and in the community.
