Job Description:
The Department of Mathematics at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics starting in the fall semester of 2025. The successful candidate will be appointed as an Assistant Professor and must have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. The candidate will be expected to teach courses at the calculus level and below, courses above calculus such as linear algebra and differential equations, and various upper division courses that support mathematics majors as well as other majors on campus. The successful candidate should also be capable of establishing an active and sustained research program.

- A Ph.D. in applied or pure mathematics. Candidates who expect to complete a Ph.D. by the beginning of employment (July 1, 2025) will also be considered.
- Evidence of teaching experience at the undergraduate level.

- Ability or willingness to teach a broad range of upper division mathematics courses.

Weber State University is a primarily undergraduate open enrollment institution located at the foot of the Wasatch Mountains in Ogden, Utah. For more than five decades, the institution has successfully maintained a dual mission by offering a wide range of baccalaureate programs and also by meeting regional community college needs. The Department of Mathematics includes 18 tenure-track faculty, has around 25 students per year who earn bachelor’s degrees in various mathematical programs, and helps support a master’s degree in data science. The department is part of the College of Science and resides in the recently constructed Tracy Hall Science Center. Physical Requirements of this position: Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.
Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
