Job Description:
The Department of Zoology at Weber State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Cell/Molecular Biology starting Fall, 2025. The successful candidate will be appointed at the Assistant Professor level and will be expected to 1) teach lower and upper division lecture and laboratory courses in his/her area(s) of expertise (e.g. Cell Biology, Genetics, Developmental Biology); 2) establish an active and sustained research program that includes mentoring undergraduate students; 3) seek external funding in support of teaching or research; and, 4) establish collaborations with colleagues in the College of Science and throughout the University.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements include:
  1. Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Genetics or related fields. Candidates who expect to complete a Ph.D. by the beginning of the Fall 2025 semester also will be considered
  2. Experience teaching General Education courses (e.g., Human Biology) and/or upper division courses such as Cell Biology, Genetics, and Developmental Biology


Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include:
  1. Postdoctoral experience in biomedical research or related fields
  2. Experience with evidence-based teaching strategies and the integration of research into classroom and laboratory instruction
  3. Previous undergraduate research mentorship
  4. Experience teaching and/or mentoring students from underserved populations and non-traditional students
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements of this position: Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Use of arm and/or leg controls exerting forces greater than that for sedentary work.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
