Job Summary

The Department of Psychology: The Department of Psychology invites applications for a Chair position. The Department has built a strong reputation for scholarly work in the fields of Clinical-Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, Cognitive and Experimental Psychology, Industrial-Organizational/Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Quantitative Psychology. We offer a Master of Psychology with six different specializations and a doctoral program in School Psychology. The Department of Psychology serves more than 1,000 students in their undergraduate and graduate programs, a number that has nearly doubled in the last five years. There are currently 29 tenure-track faculty members, in addition to emeritus and adjunct faculty, and multiple staff that carry out the responsibilities of the Department. We are an interdisciplinary and collaborative department that values teaching, research, and service. Our teaching incorporates and values the pursuit of learning and scholarship, civic engagement, public opportunity, individualized attention, and diversity. Faculty research occurs both in the laboratory and field settings, and it seeks to advance knowledge and practice. Collaborative research is encouraged with colleagues, graduate and undergraduate students. Faculty and students provide service to the discipline, to the university, and to the community.

The Department of Psychology is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences ( http://www.cas.ilstu.edu ), home to 19 academic departments, schools, and interdisciplinary programs. The Chair will provide academic and administrative leadership along with the following responsibilities:
· serve as the academic leader of the Department; manage tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty as well as non-faculty staff members;
· represent the Department and faculty members to the rest of the University, especially higher administration; and serve as a representative of higher administration to the members of the Department;
· represent the Department and University to external bodies; and develop, lead, and encourage outreach and public service efforts;
· develop the Department’s budget and manage the fiscal affairs of the Department;
· effectively manage relevant licensure and accreditation for Department programs;
· lead and coordinate the Department's strategic planning and curriculum development;
· lead the processes of faculty selection and ensure that the appointment of faculty follows university, college, and Department policies; assign and assess the distribution of faculty workload, including instructional, research, and service responsibilities;
· promote excellence in instruction, scholarly and creative productivity, and service at Illinois State University.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

Rank is at the Professor (preferred) or Associate Professor level. This is a twelve-month position. Salary range is $120,000 to $170,000 commensurate with experience.

Required Qualifications

1. Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in any area of Psychology; Academic achievements in scholarship and teaching that merit appointment with tenure at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (https://cas.illinoisstate.edu/about/chair/aspt/)
2. A demonstrated commitment to shared academic governance and to diversity, equity, and inclusion, broadly defined
3. Evidence of administrative leadership
4. As mandated by state law, demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language
