Instructor or Assistant Professor, Web and User Experience

Job Description:
We are seeking individuals who are inspired and passionate teachers at the college level. Applicants should have the ability to motivate students and faculty to think creatively and critically, have experience working with students and faculty and possess a thorough understanding of user experience design methodology and theories and web (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).

Candidates with expertise in interaction design, information architecture, visual design, web accessibility, user research, usability, behavioral science, and product management will be given special consideration.

Additionally, backgrounds in psychology, human factors research, information visualization; human-computer interaction (HCI), the digital humanities, the history and anthropology of computing, and an understanding of the intersection of behavioral science and computing are also helpful competencies.

Job Duties:


Required Qualifications:
For a tenure-track appointment, applicants must have a minimum of a PhD degree with an emphasis on User Experience, Information Science, or a related discipline.

For a non-tenure-track appointment, applicants must have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, User Experience, or related discipline.

For non-tenure-track appointments, transition to tenure track would require approval of the Dean and Department Chair based on sufficient evidence of academic qualifications and performance. Instructor (non-tenure track) positions are renewable by separate contract at the sole discretion of the university.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to individuals with:
  • Experience working in the user experience industry;
  • Experience with software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, and Figma;
  • University-level teaching experience; as well as those with additional work experience and additional teaching experience in Web and User Experience and Computer Science programs similar to that at Weber State University.
