Description
Clemson University invites applications for a full-time 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor or Professor of Practice position to start August 16, 2025.
Responsibilities include teaching courses in audio technology, music production across styles, and studio recording techniques. Experience recording live concerts, classical and choir ensembles is highly desirable. Includes teaching in a secondary area, such as acoustics or music business, dependent upon candidate qualifications and department need. The successful candidate will participate fully in departmental activities including recruiting, advising, auditions, attending recitals, concerts, and recruiting events, and working collaboratively with faculty members from the music and theatre areas in the Performing Arts major.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Industry experience with a degree in Sound Recording, Music Technology, Acoustics, or a related field. Tenure-track applicants must have an appropriate terminal degree and demonstrate potential to be successfully tenured at Clemson.
Clemson University is an R1 institution and priority consideration is given to applicants having a strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, high-quality research (creative activity, publications, funding support, etc.) and postdoctoral experience in relevant fields. As it relates to audio technology, these fields could include areas such as (but not limited to):
- Professional grade music/song productions and
releases
- Music and/or sound placements in a nationally syndicated
broadcast, commercial, film or live production
- Research, design or development of advanced audio technology
product or project
- Live sound production or FOH engineering for national touring
act
- A published book, paper or article in the field of audio
production or technology
Professor of Practice applicants should have an established record of professional experience and accomplishments.
All applicants must have knowledge and experience recording classical ensembles and live concerts, strong leadership skills, and a demonstrated ability and desire to instruct undergraduate students. Additional qualifications are valued: teaching experience at the college level or equivalent professional experience; demonstrated commitment to student recruitment.
