The Department of Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Mathematics, to begin August 15, 2025. Applicants must have a specialization in continuous mathematics, which includes but is not limited to, partial differential equations, ordinary differential equations, variational methods, continuous optimization, or dynamical systems. All candidates with research interests close to the department’s faculty will be considered, with preference for those whose research includes mathematical modeling, continuous optimization, and machine learning. Candidates for this position must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics (or its requirements completed) in the targeted area by August 15, 2025. Responsibilities of the position include instruction, scholarship, contribution to the Department’s Ph.D. program in Applied Mathematical Sciences and other services at the departmental, university, and professional levels. A typical faculty teaching load is two courses per semester. The primary selection criteria will be an applicant’s potential for effective instruction (at both the undergraduate and graduate level), quality scholarship, and the potential of effective service to the department, the university and the profession. Amongst applicants who are found highly qualified with respect to these criteria, preference will be given to those who can fulfill the department’s current instructional needs in continuous mathematics and those with strong research collaboration potential with members of the department. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
