The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in our first-year writing program, with specific work being done in connection with our established program for developmental reading and writing. The primary responsibilities of this position are teaching first-year writing courses and working with the Writing Program Coordinator on the assessment and continued development of new coaching-based reading and writing lab-courses designed to assist struggling students. The position also offers opportunities for teaching upper level and graduate courses in our English BA and MA programs. The standard teaching load is 4-4 with a 3-3 load the first year and possible reassignment time in the future for lab responsibilities.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. in English with a specialization, or significant experience, and a record of scholarship in first-year writing and/or developmental reading and writing. We will consider ABD candidates who will have degree in hand by August 2025. Expertise or experience in teaching developmental reading or writing is required, and a secondary background in an area of British literature, preferably the Victorian era, is a plus.
