Chair Professor/Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor (Ocean Science/Water Research) in the School of Energy and Environment [Ref. D/437/03]

The School of Energy and Environment was established at City University of Hong Kong in July 2009 with the mission to perform cutting-edge research and provide professional education in energy- and environment-related issues.  It is the first and only such School in Hong Kong and one of the few in Asia.  For details of the School, please visit the website at http://www.cityu.edu.hk/see.

The School invites applications for three substantiation-track faculty positions (Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor/Chair Professor) in areas related to ocean science and/or water research such as oceanography, remote sensing, marine chemistry, hydrological modelling, climate adaptation and resilience, artificial intelligence and digital twins, marine ecology, marine biodiversity conservation, water resources, wastewater treatment, water quality and management, and computational toxicology of chemicals of emerging concern.  These positions support the strategic development of the School to strengthen research and education related to aquatic environments.  The School welcomes research that involves field observation, laboratory experimentation and/or theoretical modeling.  The School collaborates with the State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution (https://www.cityu.edu.hk/sklmp/) to pursue interdisciplinary studies related ocean science and water research.

Duties
Teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise research students at master and doctoral levels, conduct high-level research, develop new research directions and courses when necessary, and contribute creatively and professionally in the School, and for the benefit of the community and industry.  The appointees will also be assigned to take up administrative duties to facilitate the development of the School activities.

Requirements
A PhD in closely-related disciplines with a strong research record in terms of grants, publications and patents, and good teaching ability.  

Candidates for Assistant Professor should have demonstrated potential for high-impact publication and grant capture.

Candidates for Associate Professor should have a number of high-impact publications and grants, and a demonstrated ability/potential to develop a research area on their own.  

Candidates for Chair Professor and Professor should have outstanding research track records and international reputation.

Salary and Conditions of Service  
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance.  Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable).  Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
