Assistant Professor of Instruction in Anatomy
Job Summary:
The Assistant Professor of Instruction in Anatomy is a fulltime, in-person, non-tenure-track position with a joint appointment between the School of Medicine (SOM) (60%) and the College of Arts and Sciences (40%).
School of Medicine: The Assistant Professor of Instruction in Anatomy faculty position is responsible for the continued development, implementation, and execution of the Structure (Anatomy) component of the Phase 1, 2, and 3 Medical School Curriculum. The Structure (Anatomy Lab) runs on a weekly basis for all 18 months of Phase 1 of the integrated curriculum. Emphasis will be on clinical anatomy and integration across all aspects of the curriculum utilizing multiple instructional modalities. The faculty position also entails development, implementation and execution of Anatomic Instruction to Phase 2 and Phase 3 medical students and Surgical Residents including a dissection elective. The Assistant Professor of Instruction in Anatomy will develop along with the team, both practical examinations in Anatomy as well as multiple choice style questions for written tests. The Assistant Professor of Instruction in Anatomy works individually with students as needed, works on remediation, and holds office hours.
College of Arts and Sciences: The Assistant Professor of Instruction in Anatomy faculty position is responsible for teaching basic and advanced anatomy courses in the Department of Biology. The faculty member will also assist with the development of new anatomy courses focused on preparing students for professional health careers, assisting with advising, and perform assessment activities related to courses in anatomy.
Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:
- Serves as a core faculty member of the SOM and CAS, participating in Curriculum and Assessment development and planning as well as implementation in the SOM and CAS.
- Collaborates and works directly with the Chair of Medical Education of the SOM and the Chair Biology in CAS in all aspects of course development, implementation, and execution.
- Collaborates and works closely with Anatomy Faculty/Staff and the SOM Director of Simulation.
- Research opportunities will be actively promoted and supported.
- Primary appointment with the Department of Medical Education in the School of Medicine and report to the Chair.
- Secondary appointment with the College of Arts and Science and report to the Dean of the College.

Qualifications
Required Education / Experience:
- Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, or equivalent) in anatomy or a related field of study.
- Minimum (two) 2 years teaching experience in gross anatomy in a medical or allied health professions school preferred. TA/Teaching during Post-Doc acceptable.
- Ability to work across integrated curriculum with multiple stakeholders.
