Job Description:

The Head Men's and Women's Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Coach is responsible for all aspects of coordinating and maintaining a competitive, fully compliant NAIA collegiate level program.  The University competes in the HBCU Athletic Conference (formerly the Gulf South Athletic Conference).  The successful candidate will also oversee the assistant cross country and track and field coach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Key aspects of this job among others include: recruitment of program participants, scheduling, equipment inventory, stimulating sportsmanship; ensuring and maintain NAIA Compliance. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication with all campus constituents, including members of the Athletic Department, student-athletes, faculty, and enrollment service areas is expected. 
  • Must exhibit and promote sportsmanship, professional behavior, and ethical conduct, as well as represent the institution as a positive role model for student-athletes. 
  • Constant documented and effective recruitment and retention of student-athletes is imperative. 
  • Assist the Athletic Department, and Student Life Division as needed in transporting student-athletes and serving on committees.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated effective recruiting and retention skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills.  Effective computer and web-related skills.  Experience coaching Sprints, Jumps and Hurdles

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited institution (Masters Degree preferred).
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • Minimum of 2 years of competitive track and field coaching experience as a head or assistant coach.
