Position Summary
The Recruitment and Retention Specialist is a member of the CHHS Advising Office team. Reporting to the Manager of Student Support Services, the Recruitment and Retention Specialist will play a pivotal role in supporting enrollment in the College of Health and Human Sciences through strategic recruitment and retention initiatives and strategic partnership with colleagues in Student Affairs. This position will also provide general support to the CHHS advising team, which may include attending orientations, providing advising support during high demand times of year, performing administrative functions that support advising and student support services, and/or providing coverage when advisors are not available.

Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The full salary range for this position is $45,300 - $68,000. The anticipated hiring range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $50,000 - $58,000.

Responsibilities
Student Recruitment Efforts - 40%
- Foster collaborative relationships with University recruitment personnel, faculty, and advisors, as well as personnel at high schools and community colleges, establishing clear pathways from these institutions to the College of Health and Human Sciences
- Act as the representative of the College of Health and Human Science at both on-campus and off-campus events, which includes but is not limited to campus fairs, community college visits, and high school events
- Create and execute engaging events on and off campus for prospective students, parents, high school and community college faculty, advisors, and other relevant groups to enhance community involvement
- Innovate strategies to expand the scope of existing recruitment, outreach, and promotional initiatives
- Partner with University and College staff to create, update and enhance promotional materials
- Participate in assessment of recruitment and outreach practices and engages in data-informed improvements
- Collaborate with CHHS Manager of Student Support Services and advising staff to create a welcoming and student-centered student support space, both physically and virtually. This may include supervision of student staff
- Coordinate various aspects of registration events, welcome week activities, early alert campaigns, and other student-centric efforts aimed at boosting retention rates
- Organize and execute college events and workshops to nurture student engagement, enrichment, career readiness, and success
- Actively participate in university-wide initiatives focused on enhancing student success and engagement
- Collaborate with student organizations and alumni to orchestrate events that contribute to retention and successful program completion
- Utilize advising-based systems to track and engage students who are at-risk of not being retained
- Deliver appropriate student-centered outreach with a lens toward diversity and inclusivity
- Participate in university-wide efforts that promote student success and registration events
- Effectively communicate university and College of Health and Human Sciences program degree requirements, transfer, and admissions processes to students during events or advising sessions
- During high demand periods, conduct advising sessions with students, assist with course selection, scheduling, and registration questions using advising-based technology
- Prepare and maintain advising documentation in the current student success/customer management system (Navigate360)
- Provide basic information related to career planning, financial literacy, admissions, and other applicable information related to student needs
- Provide coverage and support for other members of the CHHS advising team during periods of high demand and advisor absence
- Support and lead aspects of the training efforts for new and continuing academic advisors
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Demonstrated experience working with college students or youth in outreach, event, mentorship, and/or advising capacities
- Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to a diverse community (students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents)
- Demonstrated problem-solving, prioritizing, and preparation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a higher education setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience using computer-based student information system(s) (e.g., Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft, CampusVue, etc.)
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) proficiency desirable
- Experience working with and/or being sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population
- Familiarity with health and human service related fields and careers
Work Hours
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Exempt
- Days of the Week: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
- Evenings and Weekend Work: Some evening and occasional weekend work dependent upon needs
- Schedule: Remote work may be available one to three days per week dependent upon needs and events. Flexibility is required for on-campus work and visits to recruitment event locations.
- Travel: This position necessitates reliable transportation within the Denver Metro area, including locations with limited transit service
