This position is eligible for up to two days remote work per week.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Join Salve Regina University as a Financial Aid Counselor and become a key part of our vibrant and growing institution. As a member of the Financial Aid Office, you will play a crucial role in guiding students through the financial aid process, helping to remove financial barriers and make higher education accessible.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide outstanding customer service while reviewing financial aid files, determining eligibility, and awarding financial aid packages.
- Deliver students and families personalized support and expert guidance, helping them navigate the financial aid process with ease, including counseling on applications, procedures, award requirements, reporting, and program eligibility deadlines.
- Determine financial aid eligibility and award financial aid within federal, state, and/or institutional guidelines to new and returning students; Stay up to date on of Federal and state regulations as well as institutional policies pertaining to financial aid.
- Process verification of selected FAFSAs and send corrections to the Department of Education. Responsible for requesting required verification materials including, but not limited to tax information, marital status certification, and identity verification statements.
- Run compliance reports ensuring compliance with all laws and federal regulations
- Review and verify student files for possible changes in financial aid eligibility, housing and enrollment status, changes to GPA requirements for satisfactory academic progress, study abroad, or other outside sources of aid.
- Communicate with families and students through email, telephone and in person including office walk in's and on campus events.
- Assist in the development of written office policies and procedures.

- Other tasks as assigned.
Assist with all other functions of the office and related duties as requested by the Director and Associate Directors of Financial Aid.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Remote work up to 2 days per week is optional.
Requirements:
Required :
A bachelor's degree is required. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required with the ability to work effectively with students and parents. Must be able to work as part of an office team. Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings, as necessary, to meet position responsibilities.
Preferred :
1 year of financial aid experience and knowledge of PowerFaids preferred.
