Description:

Provides information and advice to enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation.
1. Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculum.
2. Analyzes and processes degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, and general petitions.
3. Maintains students' files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
4. Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic suspension, and financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students on probation.
5. May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming freshmen and transfer students.
6. Processes Veteran's Administration paperwork, writes graduation verification letters, and provides financial aid appeals.
7. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
8. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of one (1) year of directly job-related experience.

This position works in the department of Certificate in Accountancy Program (CAP) which is housed within the Department of Accountancy & Taxation at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. CAP is a non-degree seeking, post baccalaureate program. This position engages with students to advise them on academic requirements including degree progress, course selection, policies, procedures, and resources based on an assessment of individual student needs.

Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Further, successful candidates will effectively communicate with all levels of management and fellow employees and be able to manage multiple employer relationships.

The selected candidate will be required to (including but not limited to):
1. Manage a high work volume with attention to detail and accuracy.
2. Manage admissions and advise applicants for the Certificate in Accountancy Program (CAP).
3. Advise students in the Certificate in Accountancy Program (CAP) about requirements for the certificate(s), prerequisites for the MS
Accountancy program, as well as for academic eligibility to sit for the CPA exam in the state of Texas.
4. Be available to participate in in-person and virtual events such as webinars, town halls, socials, and the Tips for Academic Success
orientation.
5. Assist with planning and executing recruitment initiatives for the Certificate in Accountancy and MS Accountancy programs.
6. Assist with marketing initiatives for the Certificate in Accountancy and MS Accountancy programs.
7. May be asked to assist with the Bauer Commencement at the end of Spring and Fall semesters.
8. Work hours are 8am-5pm Monday-Friday; may be required to work 9am-6pm Tuesday and Thursday.
9. Occasional special events may occur outside of normal business hours, including some Saturdays. As much advance notice as
possible will be given.
10. Be adaptable to change, as constant improvements are being made in advising, admissions, and recruitment.

Preferences:
• Experience in Higher Education
• Experience directly in academic advising
