Description:
Provides information to and advises both enrolled and prospective students regarding the academic programs offered by the University or a specific department, including requirements for admission and retention through graduation; may coordinate the work of entry level academic advisors.
1. Advises enrolled and prospective students regarding academic programs and curriculums.
2. Analyzes and processes degree plans, graduation applications, grade change forms, and general petitions.
3. Maintains student files updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary.
4. Analyzes and processes requests for readmission from academic suspension, as well as financial aid reinstatements; provides retention services for students on probation.
5. May assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming new students.
6. May assist in recruiting high school and community college students and may make presentations at special events.
7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.

This position works in the Office of Undergraduate Business Programs at the C. T. Bauer College of Business. This position engages with students to advise them on academic requirements for degree progress, course selection, policies, procedures, and resources based on an assessment of individual student needs.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
The selected candidate will be required to (including but not limited to):
1. Manage a high work volume with attention to detail and accuracy.
2. Advise students for an undergraduate program.
3. Processes academic forms and letters for an undergraduate program.
4. Process graduation applications for an undergraduate program.
5. Plan and execute events for undergraduate students.
6. Responsible for promoting Bauer majors and minors to Bauer undergraduate students. This may include (but is not limited to):
a. Advising Bauer students considering declaring a program as their major or minor
b. Participating in presentations to classes
c. Conducting presentations to student organizations
7. Be adaptable to change, as constant improvements are being made in advising.
Preferences:
• Experience in Higher Education
• Experience directly in academic advising
