The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Expertise is required in the specific area of Coagulation testing. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Board certified in Clinical Pathology for M.D. applicants; Board certified Clinical Chemistry or Immunology for Ph.D applicants. Experience with multidisciplinary clinical change management is preferred.
The Special Coagulation Laboratory provides comprehensive diagnostic testing and consultative services for physicians caring for patients with bleeding and clotting disorders and provides evaluation of abnormal coagulation tests.
Clinical responsibilities may include oversite of coagulation testing in automation, satellite and specialty laboratories and system level guidance on harmonization of test menu and optimal utilization.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
The position involves close collaboration with multidisciplinary clinical colleagues and oversight of new test development, validation and ongoing assay performance. Experience or interest in an additional area of laboratory medicine, such as laboratory informatics, point of care testing, and/or immunology will be viewed favorably.
