Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - School of Nursing

About the Opportunity

The School of Nursing invites applications for multiple full-time open rank tenure-track/ tenured positions at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor levels with an anticipated start date in 2025.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates with research programs that broadly align with our mission of advancing health for everyone, from the individual to society, across the healthspan. The research areas for these positions are open to candidates studying topics across the many diverse disciplines in nursing research within the broad umbrella of oncology. Junior researchers are welcome to apply, as are senior faculty with internationally recognized research programs and strong funding. The candidates will have demonstrated teaching excellence and commitment to supporting a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. The candidates should also have a PhD in Nursing or a related field and be eligible for RN licensure in Massachusetts.

We welcome candidates with interdisciplinary expertise who is capable of leading and collaborating with researchers at Bouve and across Northeastern University. Joint appointments within Bouve or across other colleges at Northeastern are highly recommended.

Our tenure and promotion process values collaborative research and teamwork. Hires will be mentored for success, with mentoring teams and group guidance. In addition, a strong and effective faculty development strategy is part of the Northeastern institutional mission. The ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development office works in conjunction with the Office of Research Development (ORD), the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI), the Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through Research (CATLR), and University Decision Support (UDS) to provide programs and trainings to develop further and support a thriving faculty.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, conducting an independent and externally funded research program, and participating in departmental, college, and university service. Qualified candidates must have expertise in, or a demonstrated commitment to, working with diverse student populations and/or in a culturally diverse work and educational environment.

Qualifications
  • Terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in Nursing or related field by appointment start date.
  • Evidence of an established area of research and scholarship, teaching excellence, and demonstrated excellence and commitment to supporting a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
  • Candidates with Nursing degrees must be eligible for MA licensure


All applicants should have a strong record of scholarly accomplishment that demonstrates the promise (for Assistant Professor-level candidates) and ability to build a strong research program. Academic rank at the Associate or Full Professor level will be commensurate with experience and qualifications reflecting a record of substantial research productivity and an established history of grant support, teaching, and academic service. Associate level and higher appointments require a minimum of 5 years of teaching and research experience. Full-level appointments require conducting independent research that attracts external funding. Research excellence is the top-most priority.

Finally, please outline the research directions you foresee pursuing in the Bouve College of Health Sciences.

Teaching statement:

Please summarize your past instructional and mentorship experiences, your pedagogical philosophy, your plans/goals for teaching in the Bouve College of Health Sciences (including existing and proposed courses), and your strategies for teaching and mentoring a diverse cohort of undergraduate and graduate students.

Please provide a statement of your contributions to diversity that describes your past experience, activities, and future plans to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and belonging in your teaching, research, and service. Your statement should demonstrate an understanding of the barriers facing marginalized communities in your field and be in alignment with Northeastern's mission to reflect the diversity of the societies in which it maintains campuses and meet the educational needs and interests of its diverse population. Some faculty candidates may not have substantial past activities. If that is the case, we recommend focusing on future plans in your statement. A more developed and substantial plan is expected for senior candidates.
