Faculty | PA Studies | WFUSM
The Director of Educational Strategy will develop and implement educational strategy for the Department of PA Studies. This open-rank faculty role will design and implement programs to address identified needs based on stakeholder insight. The Director of Educational Strategy is also entrusted with responsibilities to oversee and/or support program assessment and support educational research in the department, e.g., identifying opportunities for internal- and extramural-funded research, mentoring clinical faculty, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and other responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct educational research in candidate’s area of expertise.
- Support clinical faculty as needed regarding study design, statistical analysis, and identify intra-mural and extramural funding.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify opportunities to improve medical education of PAs
- Provide guidance on instructional design and educational best practices
- Keep abreast of current trends in medical education regarding curriculum delivery and assessment.
- Mentor and support education-based capstone doctoral projects and DMSc instruction
- Oversee and/or support program assessment for all educational programs in the department as needed
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to conduct educational research in one’s area of expertise
- Excellent presentation skills
- Applying adult learning theories, instructional design theory and/or outcomes-based assessment in teaching and educational research
- Demonstrated ability to create educational content and outcomes-based assessment
- Writing is of high scientific and literary quality
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, SPSS, other).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
Education/Experience
- Doctoral degree is required (PhD, EdD, or equivalent).
- For entry-level candidates, potential to publish original research in high-quality peer-reviewed medical education journals.
- For mid-level/senior candidates, having an established record of publishing original research in high-quality peer-reviewed medical education journals
- Potential or established record of obtaining extramural funding for educational research projects is desired
