There are about 2,300 undergraduate students who make up the South Carolina Corps of Cadets. Out of the Corps of Cadets, one out of three graduates earn a military commission. Students can choose from 31 majors, 57 minors, pre-health professions, and pre-law. Another 1,200 students attend The Graduate College, evening and online programs. The Citadel is a prestigious military college dedicated to developing principled leaders through rigorous academic programs, military training, and a strong ethical framework. Position Summary
This position has primary accountability for the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the future of the Honors Program and its partnership with The Citadel's Distinguished Scholars Program. The Honors Program at The Citadel is known for excellence in producing highly accomplished Citadel graduates and for the overall enhancement of the intellectual environment on campus. In addition to cultivating academic excellence and intellectual community among the approximately 100+ students in the Honors Program, this position oversees The Citadel's Distinguished Scholars Program which is a program that fosters intellectual discourse and global citizenship to aid scholars in securing fellowships and graduate study at prestigious institutions. The Honors Director provides institutional leadership for the administration, ongoing development, and expansion of a multidisciplinary Honors Program that offers enhanced curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students. Working in partnership with faculty, admissions, financial aid and other key areas of the institution, the Director oversees curricular strategies and student progress. This is a 10-month position.
