Job Description:

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Berry College seeks a lecturer of analytical chemistry to begin in August 2025. The successful candidate is expected to teach an analytical chemistry course and its laboratory, utilizing the variety of instrumentation in our department (including chromatography and spectroscopy). Additional teaching responsibilities will include general chemistry and associated labs. This position also entails maintaining instrumentation within the department, particularly the department's GC-MS and HPLC.

Our collegial department of ten faculty members strives for excellence in teaching chemistry and mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds in a comprehensive college with a liberal arts core. The candidate should share our department's commitment to student engagement inside and outside of the classroom and our desire to promote opportunities for students from underrepresented groups and foster a culture of belonging . Berry is committed to increasing the diversity of our faculty and staff; we welcome applications from all groups and strongly encourage women and persons of color to apply for this position.

While teaching analytical chemistry and maintaining departmental instrumentation are the primary responsibilities of this position, mentoring our students as they develop personally and professionally is also a high priority. If desired, the faculty member will have opportunities to participate in collaborative research with faculty and undergraduate students.

Requirements:

Preference will be given to applicants with a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, or a closely related discipline. However, applicants with a Master's degree and relevant experience will also be considered. ABD applicants should include documentation that the requirements for the degree will be completed by August 2025.
