General Summary
The Department of Geography & Geology at Eastern Michigan
University is seeking applicants for a full-time lecturer in Earth
Systems Science starting in January 2025. The lecturer will teach
introductory lecture and lab courses in Earth Science and Geology,
as well as potentially upper-level courses in their areas of
specialty, as needed. Lecturers may also be asked to coordinate
introductory labs as part of their assigned load.
The Department of Geography and Geology includes undergraduate
programs in Earth System Science, including Geology and Earth
Science. The department is an active member of the
interdisciplinary Environmental Science and Society program at EMU,
which also includes several Earth System Science-related
concentrations. Women, minorities, individuals with disabilities

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teach contractual load of courses as assigned by the department
or school.
Assign and submit grades in accordance with established University
schedules.
Keep posted office hours during the week which are scheduled at
times most beneficial to students.
Provide enrollment data and such other information as corrected
class lists, etc. as may be required by the University.
Engage in pursuits that enable them to remain current in their
respective disciplines.
Confer periodically with the Department Head/School Director on
curriculum and instruction issues.
Provide other support service to the department, college and/or
university, if applicable.
Perform related departmental duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least a Master's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or related field, where preference will be given for candidates with demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level.
