Job Description
The English department at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is actively seeking qualified candidates to teach first-year writing courses this coming academic year.
Teaching opportunities include online and on-campus first-year writing courses. On-campus teaching assignments are located in Corpus Christi, Texas. Online teaching assignments are available for alternative work locations. Adjunct instructors are hired to teach on a temporary and part-time basis.

Job Duties Include:
- Teach assigned courses as specified in the schedule and course
contract
- Complete position-specific training
- Prepare essential learning objectives, lesson plans, and
assignments, and post a course syllabus in coordination with the
First Year Writing Program coordinator
- Clearly communicate course objectives, assignments, and
deadlines using the university's Learning Management System
(Canvas)
- Provide feedback and evaluate assignments in a timely and
thorough manner
- Maintain records of attendance and grading, and report early
alerts for students who are not actively engaging in
courses
- Other duties as assigned and relevant to position
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition,
or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the
discipline in hand at the time of appointment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching college-level writing courses
- Experience teaching in on-campus, hybrid, and/or online
delivery
- Demonstrated history of quality teaching
