Dean of The Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UA Little Rock) invites nominations and applications for the position of dean of The Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (DCSTEM). The College seeks a dean who will help empower the college's diverse and innovative units to build on their achievements and take the next steps forward. This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished leader with the passion and ability to develop and implement a unified vision for the college, furthering its mission to apply theory and research to drive social change. Reporting to the provost, the dean will work cooperatively with the faculty, department chairs, other deans, the provost, and the chancellor to develop and implement the colleges and university's strategic plans and other institutional goals.
UA Little Rock, classified as an R2: Doctoral University - High research activity by the Carnegie Foundation, is Arkansas's premier metropolitan university and enrolls over 8,000 full- and part-time students. The university offers baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees across more than thirty departments in three degree-granting colleges and a law school. UA Little Rock, located in Central Arkansas and its capital city, provides a unique environment that combines a fast-paced business and technology hub with cultural offerings and deep ties to the Little Rock community. Featuring ample affordable housing opportunities and a diverse and vibrant food scene, the city is also home to many cultural institutions and offers ten world-class healthcare institutions and one of the nation's largest pediatric hospitals—Arkansas Children's Hospital. Known as the Natural State, Arkansas features 52 state parks and is populated by stunning lakes and rivers.
The Donaghey College of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics educates, inspires, and prepares undergraduates and graduate students for fulfilling internships and careers. Within the college, there are five departments (Biology, Computer Science, Construction Management and Civil and Construction Engineering, Information Science, and Mathematics and Statistics) and two schools (the School of Engineering and Engineering Technology and the School of Physical Sciences) which offer academic programs at all levels – minors, undergraduate certificates and degrees, master's certificates and degrees, and doctoral.
In its next dean, DCSTEM seeks a collaborative, visionary leader with an accomplished record of teaching and scholarly contributions and administrative experience at the department level or above. Also required is a terminal degree from an accredited institution; a proven track record of leading and managing organizational change; a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; and at least 5 years of administrative experience. Candidates with successful fundraising and external relations experience, strong communication skills, and experience growing a department, school, or organization will be at a decided advantage.
