Job Description
The English faculty at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi invites applications for a 9-month position at the rank of Professional Assistant Professor in English beginning in January 2025. We welcome applications from candidates with a broad range of specializations; candidates with interests in speculative fiction or young adult literature are especially encouraged to apply.
Teaching expectations will include a 5/5 course load comprising introductory writing courses, lower-division literature courses in the university core, and upper-division courses according to the candidate's specialization. Summer teaching opportunities may also be available. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in appropriate service at the departmental, college, and university levels. As a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution, we are seeking candidates who can demonstrate through their teaching and service that they can contribute our university's mission as a Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.

The Department of English at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers undergraduate English majors a choice in either a Writing or Literary Studies emphasis, curricula for secondary English certification, certificates in Writing for Non-Profits, Social Media, and TESOL, and minors in Technical and Professional Writing, Creative Writing, and Literary Studies. The graduate program provides an interdisciplinary educational experience in a generalist MA in English by requiring advanced study in Writing Studies, Literary Studies, and Applied Linguistics.

Required Qualifications
- PhD or MFA in English, Rhetoric and Composition, or a closely
related field. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be
conferred at the time of appointment.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in first year writing/rhetoric
and composition.
- Demonstrated teaching experience in literature.
- Demonstrated evidence of an ability to teach in face-to-face
and online modalities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated evidence of culturally responsive pedagogy,
especially in the context of a regional university designated as a
Hispanic and Minority Serving Institution.
- Experience teaching and advising first-generation students and
historically underserved communities.
