Job Details
The University of North Alabama’s College of Education & Human Sciences is accepting applications for the position of Tenure-Track, Rank Open faculty in Early Childhood/Elementary Education within the department of Teaching, Learning, & Leadership. This position will have teaching responsibilities that involve face-to-face instruction at the Huizhou University located in, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, southern China. The successful candidate will have the responsibility of collaborating with stakeholders to develop and maintain an Early Childhood curriculum in support of international partnership needs.
The standard teaching load for this position is 12 credit hours per semester, with all instruction being provided in English. Salary will be commensurate with degree, rank, and experience. The Educator Preparation Program is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and approved by the Alabama State Department of Education. Appointment will be effective Fall 2025 with the potential to start in Spring 2025. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.
Essential job duties include: Teaching undergraduate and graduate classes in Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education, both on the main campus and abroad; Advise students; and work with students as well as P-6 schools and administrators domestically and abroad. Additional duties shall include: performing university and community service initiatives; maintaining an active and involved leadership role in college and university committees as requested; maintaining involvement with research activities; assist with international partnership coordination; develop early childhood and/or elementary education curricula; mentor students; participate in scholarly activities; and support the department's current accreditation processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in written form, verbally, and inter-personally; Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff; Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Desire and ability to teach and/or learn to teach a varied and evolving curriculum; Ability to demonstrate written and spoken fluency in English (fluency in Mandarin is preferred, but not required).
Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a closely-related field from an accredited university is required (ABD will be considered). A closely-related field in education (i.e. curriculum and instruction) will be considered if the applicant possesses a minimum of 30 graduate hours in Elementary or Early Childhood Education; Eligibility to possess teaching credentials in Early Childhood and/or Elementary Education is required; Minimum of three years of successful P-6 experience is required; Experience in and/or the ability to deliver online instruction is required; Ability to deliver face-to-face instruction abroad; Teaching experience at the college/university level is preferred; Interest in or experience directing student research is preferred; Experience in supervision of interns in the P-12 setting is preferred.
