Job Summary

The Space Plasma Group at the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP), University of Colorado, Boulder (CU) invites applications for research scientists in Space Physics at a ranking of research scientist I or II (RS-I, RS-2). The LASP Space Plasma Group conducts a diverse research program encompassing instrumentation, data analysis, simulation, theoretical studies, and machine learning applications of space plasma physics in a variety of environments, including planetary magnetospheres and ionospheres as well as the solar wind. Candidate evaluation will begin on September 31, 2021.

The Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU) began in 1948, a decade before NASA. We are the world’s only academic research institute to have sent instruments to all eight planets and Pluto.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Project will include Mars Data Analysis with key interest in the Langmuir Probe and Waves (LPW) data from the MAVEN mission.
What You Should Know
  • The candidate should indicate their research interests, and how they could enhance and benefit the research projects above.
  • Depending on the science topic, demonstration of their skills in data analysis of particle and field observations, MHD/PIC simulation, or machine learning is highly desirable.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to comply with the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement . New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.
What We Can Offer
  • RS I $70k - $80k.
  • RS II $75k - $110k.
