JOB DEVELOPER (GRANT FUNDED)
HAROLD WASHINGTON COLLEGE
City Colleges of Chicago (CCC ) is made up of seven colleges, the largest community college system in Illinois and one of the largest nationally. CCC was awarded a Workforce Equity Initiative Grant by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB). The focus of the grant is to improve workforce equity in at-risk communities. The colleges and programs awarded by the state target the city’s South and West Side communities. The grant funds will be used to offer students opportunities to earn an industry-recognized credential and/or certificate (credit or non-credit) and take advantage of financial supports.
Harold Washington College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago, received funding through a joint collaboration to offer more students the opportunity to quickly complete short-term certificate programs that lead to employment in high-skilled, high-wage, and in-demand occupations to further promote workforce equity for African Americans in Illinois. The funds will support a tuition-free, short-term job training program, which leads participants to meaningful certifications in Cybersecurity and Project Management. The program aims to serve students across several communities.
The Job Developer is responsible for securing employment opportunities and ensuring students have the tools needed to get employment and stay employed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Conducts one-on-ones with students to identify barriers to achieving employment.
Collaborates with the college teams and employer partners.
Attends regular meetings with college teams and external program partners to discuss the progress of students and to develop interventions and direction, as appropriate.
Builds internal system/processes to continually assess, maintain, and further develop partnerships leading to improved student employment outcomes.
Provides frequent updates and reports out on individual student progress.
Attends job fairs and hiring events in order to identify resources and job opportunities for students then disseminates the information to students.

Reports To Executive Director of Workforce Equity Initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Education, Counseling, or a related field relevant to the job.
• Three years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, job placement or development, workforce development, student services, or career advising
• Work experience in an academic setting highly desirable
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to work with and relate to a culturally diverse student body, faculty, and staff
• Ability to work effectively with different levels of staff within the organization
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be able to handle all situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
