Johns Hopkins Carey Business School is seeking a motivated and energetic individual for the Director Employer Relations position. This position is responsible for actively building and maintaining relationships with industry employers to secure student internship and full-time employment opportunities. The Director will oversee all employer activities for designated industry clients, manage employer/student interactions, and lead all office initiatives, programming, and strategic planning. Additionally, the Director will manage a team of four to five assistant/associate directors, ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
The Director for Employer Relations is charged with building the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School brand as a source of talent for employers and with educating students about the hiring processes, timing, and competencies which will allow them to thrive in a competitive employment market. This role will also be a valued partner to internal Carey colleagues as they develop and share knowledge and insights of the graduate business job market. This position is hybrid, with travel as needed.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Create, develop, and execute, in collaboration with the Director of Strategic Partnerships and Sr. Associate Dean for Student Experience and Strategic Initiatives, a comprehensive employer outreach strategy.
- Work with Employer Relations team to set and manage employer expectations.
- Determine effective programs and tools to connect students to employers.
- Hold Employer Relations staff accountable to employer outreach metrics.
- Develop and manage ongoing relationships with companies, organizations, and agencies, both domestically and internationally, leading to employment opportunities (internships and full-time) for students.
- Develop employer relations strategies, including target organizations and plans for connecting with them.
- Manage relationships with recruiters and hiring managers, identify new employers, and develop relationships with them. Record and manage contacts in CRM.
- Share insights on top employment options and employers in industry coverage space with leadership at Carey.
- Network with alumni and other sources within assigned areas to strengthen and broaden relationships.
- Coordinate with employer partners to conduct on-campus employer-focused events, info sessions, on-campus interviews, etc.
- Analyze relevant recruiting data and determine trends to target specific companies.
- Market students to specific companies based on student interest and qualifications and hiring organization’s recruitment needs.
- Educate employers on best ways to connect with students and on tools available to employers for student interaction and evaluation.
- Collect feedback from employers and students on employer events to ensure quality delivery and mutual satisfaction and use feedback to make necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with other internal stakeholders (Academic Programs, Advising, Student Affairs, Experiential Learning, and Alumni Relations) on projects as necessary.
- Research and stay informed on national, state, and local hiring practices, employment trends, and other labor-related issues for appropriate industry verticals.
- Represent Carey at regional and national functions that contribute to the mission of Career and the Employer Relations team.
- Partner with faculty who teach subject matter related to industry coverage areas to share and engage industry contacts on campus.
- As part of the Corporate and Strategic Partnerships team, collaborate across departments for strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with Corporate and Strategic Partnerships to perform data collection including annual report, annual profile surveys, on-boarding surveys, and other data needs as determined by accreditation boards, ranking bodies, and the needs from other units within Carey.
- Student-Facing Initiatives include collaboration with CLD on scaled/group student advising/coaching in job search strategy, industry insights, interview preparation, etc. and assist in connecting students directly with employers and alumni.
- Team Management including supervision and leadership of a team of four to five employer outreach specialists ensuring effective collaboration and productivity.
- Delegate tasks, monitor progress, and provide professional development opportunities for the team.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive team environment, promoting continuous learning and growth.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree required.
- Five years related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Seven to ten years of direct experience in recruitment, job placement, or human resources.
- Experience in career service management in a business school, corporate career development, higher education administration, corporate recruiting, marketing, or sales.
- Five to seven years of supervisory experience.
- Experience with LinkedIn Sales Navigator or similar platforms is a plus.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
