Job Summary/Basic Functions
Support the University’s budget planning and management through professional support in budget management,
development, execution, analysis, monitoring, evaluation and reporting to ensure maximum efficiency for financial
resources and upper management decision making.
Serve as the budget analyst assistant by managing operational business processes, providing resource information,
responding to budget inquiries from departments in a timely manner, review and process all budget modification forms
and provide assistance through the different phases of the budget process.
Minimum Qualifications
• Experience in providing excellent customer service to the public required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite to complete analyses and present results and the aptitude to become
proficient with ACCESS within 6 six months, required.
• Ability to draft and/or critically proofread and edit high-level documents distributed to the University administration,
the Board of Visitors or party’s external to the University.
• Knowledge of and experience in using mainframe and/or server based administrative computer systems required.
• Knowledge of and experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s planning and budgeting cycle, preferred.
• Requires demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience using the Banner system is preferred.
• Considerable knowledge of state policies and procedures and demonstrated ability to interpret and formulate
complex policies and procedures.

Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management or Public Administration preferred.
A combination of years of experience and a bachelor’s degree is acceptable
