Job Summary/Basic Functions
Support the University’s budget planning and management through professional support in budget ma
development, execution, analysis, monitoring, evaluation and reporting to ensure maximum efficiency
for financial resources and upper management decision making.
Manage and analyze budgets through the different phases of the budget process and present recommendations
to the AVP for Budget and Finance for continuous process improvements so the University as a whole functions
in an effective manner.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of and experience in using mainframe and/or server based administrative computer systems
required.
• Knowledge of and experience with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s planning and budgeting cycle,
preferred.
• Knowledge of budgeting for public higher education institutions, preferred.
• Skilled communicator and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
• Requires demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experience in providing excellent customer service to the public required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite to complete analyses and present results; immediate proficiency
in WORD and EXCEL and the aptitude to become proficient with ACCESS within 6 six months, required.
Additional Considerations:
• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management or Public Administration or relevant
experience.
• Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration or Finance preferred.
