Position Purpose
The Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management & Operations supervises and coordinates internal operations for 35 varsity sports. Additionally, this position will be charged with managing and directing all facets of Dartmouth College Athletics event management, including planning, preparation and facilitation for regular season and post-season competition for all sports. Additional responsibilities include scheduling and game contract management.
Reporting to the Executive Associate Athletic Director and the Senior Associate Athletics Director this position will also serve as the primary event manager for multiple sports.

- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for constructive interaction with associates, assistants, coaches, department staff, student-athletes, administrators, etc.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work effectively in a fast-paced and complex work environment.
- Strong planning and analytical skills.
- At least five years of college athletics experience.
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules.

· Manages game contracts for all varsity sports contests.
· Maintains staff personnel contracts and appointment letters.
· Works with facilities on scheduling of all home events (contests, camps, clinics, etc.) to ensure maintenance of general operations and upkeep of athletics facilities.
· Manages relationships with third parties and vendors (e.g. event staffing companies, campus police, emergency services, rental companies, etc.)
· Works with the varsity scheduling committee to ensure compliance with Title IX as it relates to practice opportunities, game times, etc.
· Assists with the onboarding of new staff.

Event Management
· Directs, supervises, and coordinates all facets of the athletics event management program with input from their supervisor(s) while overseeing event management staff.
· Arranging game day staff, coordinating with officials and coaches ensuring adequate personnel for game operations and ensuring provisions for visiting teams and officials.
· Assists with the day-to-day set up and breakdown of facilities for practices, competitions and special events.
· Facilitates the development and implementation of policies and procedures that contribute to high quality varsity athletic events for both the participants and the spectators.
· Oversees the assignment, hiring, and payment of personnel necessary for game management (i.e. game officials, announcers, clock operators, minor officials, ushers, student workers, etc.). Performs other duties as assigned.
· Will serve as an event manager for certain home contests
· Work alongside head coaches to understand home events needs and preferences.
· Ensure proper facility and equipment set-up for events. Coordinate with event workers to ensure that their responsibilities are clear and duties are being performed properly.
· Handle any emergencies on-site (injury on field, weather issue), assist with crowd control (act as a liaison with Dartmouth Safety and Security and Hanover Police, when applicable) and troubleshoot.
