Candidates in application areas, including interdisciplinary applications, are especially encouraged to apply. Teaching responsibilities include courses at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum.  Experience with programs and pedagogical approaches for attracting and retaining women and underrepresented minorities in the discipline is highly desirable. Candidates are expected to have high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching, a commitment to the liberal arts, a promise of scholarly excellence, and a desire to engage undergraduates in scholarship and professional activities. The teaching load is equivalent to six courses per year on a quarter system (2/2/2), with additional duties including directing senior theses and academic advising.

Kalamazoo College is a highly selective liberal arts college offering an integrated undergraduate experience that weaves a traditional liberal arts curriculum into educational experiences and civic engagement in both domestic and international settings. As such, it attracts students from diverse backgrounds interested in social justice and activism.  The College is a member of the Posse Program and home to the Arcus Center for Social Justice Leadership. It is located in Kalamazoo, MI, a diverse and vibrant city midway between Chicago and Detroit, and home of the first nationwide city-based college tuition remission program, the Kalamazoo Promise. Kalamazoo is also home to a large research university that shares many of its resources with members of the Kalamazoo College community.  Thirty-five miles from the beautiful beaches and coastal towns of Lake Michigan, the area offers many opportunities for outdoor activities.

Completed applications received by November 1, 2021 will receive full consideration, with later applications reviewed as needed until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching evaluations, undergraduate and graduate transcripts (unofficial acceptable), and two personal statements in PDF format to http://www.kzoo.edu/search/cs.  One personal statement should describe the applicant's scholarly interests; the other should describe teaching experience, philosophy, and practice, including a statement on experience working with underrepresented students and engaging issues of diversity and inclusion in pedagogical approaches. Please have three letters of recommendation, including at least one specifically addressing teaching, sent in PDF format to csSearch@kzoo.edu with the subject line lastname_firstname.  Questions may be addressed to Dr. Alyce Brady at that email address also.

Kalamazoo College encourages candidates who will contribute to the cultural diversity of the College to apply and to identify themselves if they wish. Equal Opportunity Employer.
