Description
The Department of Social Science & Cultural Studies at Pratt Institute seeks part-time faculty to teach Media Ecologies in Spring 2025 (a brief course description is below). This upper-level course (capped at 15 students) enrolls students from across Pratt's programs in art, design, and architecture, and is also an integral part of the Department's major in Critical & Visual Studies.
Course Description: SS-417 Media Ecologies. This course introduces students to modes of perceiving and engaging with media circuits within a global context. It exposes students to critical visual methods and social media methodologies as they learn to analyze and think about the embedment of media forms in everyday life.
Examples of Duties
Teach SS-417 Media Ecologies on Mondays from 5:00 PM to 7:50 PM, following the semester dates (January 27 - May 16, 2025). Engage students in interactive discussions and activities to explore critical and visual methods and social media methodologies in media studies.
Qualifications
Candidates should have relevant teaching experience, and be ABD PhD students or have a PhD in sociology, anthropology, media studies, history, or a related field in the social sciences and cultural studies, broadly construed. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications within the range of $6900-7500 per course
