Luther College seeks an economist whose experience has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to academic excellence in teaching, research, and community service for a tenure-eligible position to begin Fall 2025.  We seek candidates with an ability and interest in teaching courses spread over fall, January, and spring terms including: Econometrics, statistics, and intermediate microeconomics and/or a senior research seminar.

Candidates with an interest in contributing to our interdisciplinary programs such as environmental studies or international studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Additional courses, based on the applicant’s area of expertise and needs of the college, may include but are not limited to courses such as environmental economics, development economics, and international trade.

Applicants should hold a PhD or expect to complete all requirements by September 1, 2025. Teaching experience is required. The successful candidate will communicate knowledge of and interest in teaching at Luther College. Candidates should demonstrate potential for excellence in college teaching, effectiveness in mentoring undergraduates, and a promising research program compatible with undergraduate education.

Luther College is located in rural Northeast Iowa, a regional hub for outdoor recreation, two nationally recognized healthcare systems, top ranked schools, business, agriculture, specialty retail, dining and tourism.  Major Midwest metropolitan areas within a three-hour driving distance include Des Moines, IA; Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN; and Madison, WI.  We are an easy drive to La Crosse, WI, Cedar Falls/Waterloo, IA, and Rochester, MN, home of Mayo Clinic.

The current salary range for this position is $61,000–$68,000 for assistant professors with 0-5 years of experience; and $77,000 to $82,000 for associate professors with 0-5 years in rank; placement on scale is dependent on credentials and applicable experience. Additional opportunities are available (start-up funds, summer teaching, summer undergraduate research, grant research, administrative duties, etc.).
