Job Summary:

Within the Division of Student Affairs, the Coordinator of Career Placement is responsible for providing career advice which assists students in planning careers, internship, and cooperative education opportunities.  The selected candidate will assist in planning  careers, through advisement, internship coordination, and by keeping abreast of current employment, economic and industry trends and for connection students to community services in support of career goal attainment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide career guidance to recent graduates and alumni. Educate students about resume building, interview process, job expectation and professionalism. Interface with the Department of Institutional Effectiveness and other federal and state agencies to ensure the college’s job placement rates are up-to-date and accurate. Collaborate with employers to establish program-level internships or apprenticeships. Provide job placement assistance to students. Serve as a liaison for faculty with business and industry to arrange out-of-classroom experiences, service-learning projects, and mentor/mentee opportunities. Coordinate events with workforce agencies and representatives. Hold seminar/workshops on interview skills and job search strategies. Serve on college task forces, committees and councils as required. Assist in the day-to-day operations within the division providing support for the Student Life Coordinator. Organize job fairs, career programs, and other student activities. Maintain a database of available job opportunities for students. Monitor and track job order status until they are closed. Offer exceptional customer service in a student-centered, professional environment at all times. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Perform related duties as required or deemed necessary to meet the Recruitment goals within the scope of responsibility. Upholds and agrees to comply with all federal, state, and local requirements pertaining to the security, confidentiality, and privacy of information maintained by institution, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university.
  • Two years of prior work experience in career services or in workforce placement in either the private sector, with a state agency, or higher education.
  • Evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Above average skills in the utilization of computer systems, Banner, EAB, and Microsoft Office applications and experience in recruitment and career interest assessment/advising.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree from a regionally accredited university.
