Purpose: The Assistant/Associate Professor of Computer Science is a full-time, tenure track position in the Department of Natural and Quantitative Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours of undergraduate Computer Science per semester.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Teach courses in support of the B.S. in Computer Science, including data science, computer science theory and application, and programming in various languages.  Must be able to teach a range of undergraduate CS courses -- both introductory courses to non-majors and upper-level major courses – such as Computer Architecture, Data Structures, Databases, Algorithms, Intro to AI and Machine Learning, Operating Systems, Compiler Design, etc. Assist the Academic Director of the CS program:  this includes contributing to the ongoing curricular development of the Computer Science program including the B.S. in Computer Science and participating in advising and program assessment. Course preparation, student assignment grading, midterm, and final grade within three days of course completion. Weekly attendance reporting. Conduct office hours on campus (about one hour per week for every two credits being taught).
  • Participate in the life of the College by serving on administrative committees and attending important events, such as Welcome Weekend, Opening Mass, Faculty-Staff Convocation, Constitution Day, Honors Convocation, DES Induction, Baccalaureate Mass, and Commencement.
  • Assume leadership and service roles as they emerge in the Department of Natural and Quantitative Sciences and the College. Other responsibilities may be assigned to meet the needs of the Department, Division, and College.
