The School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. The position has an anticipated start date of August 2025. We are interested in applicants whose research focuses on GIScience, particularly in the use and development of geospatial big data and new spatial analytical methods, including spatial statistics, GeoAI, and remote sensing, to address critical environmental and social science challenges. The successful applicant will join a dynamic group of faculty working closely with colleagues in the Spatial Analysis Research Center (SPARC) to advance innovative and interdisciplinary GIScience. As part of ASU’s investment in the spatial sciences, SPARC members will work to position ASU as a world leader in developing, applying, and teaching spatial-science techniques, lead developments of spatial methods, and advance the capacity of GIScience to generate new knowledge and innovative solutions through collaboration across disciplines.

 

 

 

The successful applicant will teach GIS-related courses in-person and online to GIS, geography, and Urban Planning majors, as well as contribute to the PhD program in GIScience. See required and desired qualifications. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally-funded research program, generate peer-reviewed research, engage undergraduate and graduate students through effective teaching & mentoring, participate in service to the university and profession, and build productive relationships with faculty both within and beyond the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning.
