The College of Nursing and Health Professions has more than a century long history of educating nurses and health professionals. As a proven leader in Creative Arts Therapy Education, we continually seek well qualified educators to further our profession and college’s mission. The Department of Creative Arts Therapy is accepting applications for future Adjunct CAT Faculty positions. These applications are accepted on a continuous basis and reviewed by the Department Chair when openings become available. Adjunct positions are on a quarter-by-quarter basis (Note: Drexel’s Academic Year includes four ten-week terms/quarters).

Adjunct CAT Faculty applications are being accepted for four general areas:
- Core (Counseling) Masters program courses
- Art Therapy and Counseling courses
- Dance/Movement Therapy courses
- Music Therapy and Counseling courses
- PHD in Creative Arts Therapies program
- Undergraduate elective courses related to the creative arts therapies
Job Overview
The adjunct faculty member will employ a variety of strategies to foster student learning and mastery, as well as, facilitate discussions, encourage active learning in all students, maintain proper course-related records, and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback as to the progress toward meeting the objectives of the course. Each adjunct faculty member is responsible for effectively teaching students in the assigned classroom, clinical or online settings. Each adjunct faculty member is responsible for effectively implementing the mission of the Department of Creative Arts Therapy in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. Responsibilities may include teaching days, evenings, nights and weekends.
Essential functions (include but are not limited to)
- Teach required number of credit hours per quarter based on their contract.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to the teaching of adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development and student evaluation, including practices consistent with inclusive and equitable teaching principles.
- Participate in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the course syllabus.
- Plan and provide theoretical instruction and clinical or studio/lab experiences that reflect an understanding of the philosophy, objectives and curriculum of the Department of Creative Arts Therapies.
- Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes.
- Schedule regular office hours per week for student availability, if applicable.
- Schedule administrative time for course preparation and timely assessment of student work.
- Maintain communication with your direct report (e.g., program director or counseling curriculum director) regarding any course or student issues.
- Engage in self evaluation and post-course review of student feedback, structured per the direct report for this course.
To be considered for all Adjunct Creative Arts Therapy Faculty positions, you must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree
- Progressive experience in education and practice
- Demonstrated competence with required knowledge and skill of assigned content area.
- Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education and the role of Creative Arts Therapy Educator.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other faculty members, as well as students.
- Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
- Ability to perform the requirements of the job description (listed above).
- Basic computer skills including: sending/receiving email; researching topics via the web; attaching, sending and opening documents; participation in online chats; function in library databases, DrexelOne (BannerWeb) system and Blackboard software, etc.

Supplemental Posting Information:
CNHP takes seriously its responsibility to ensuring its Adjunct Faculty are thoroughly prepared. As a requirement of employment, you must complete the following pre-class activities:
- Complete orientation with the program director or coordinator (approximately 2 hours)
- For Online courses, complete the Essentials of Online Learning Course offered by the CNHP (a six week module)
- Complete required orientation to course content technology (BlackBoard) (approximately 2 hours)
- Complete periodic examination of course with your direct report in the department.
